Tool Wish List
The CMS has a great selection of tools, but we’re regularly expanding our tool-set to build our capacity, help our community members make new things, and support a growing range of interests. The list below includes tools that we’re trying to acquire for this purpose. If you would like to help us acquire any of these tools for the MakerSpace, either by making a financial contribution or donating a piece of equipment, please contact the CMS Director at [email protected]. We’d be absolutely grateful for your support!
Wood Shop
- Drum sander
- 55 gallon drums (for the dust collector)
- Router bits (new or in great condition!)
- ShopVac
Metal Shop
- TIG welding machine
- Welding fume extractor
- Oxy-Acetylene setup
- Paint booth (will be used for multiple departments)
Fiber Arts
- For fabric dyeing area:
- Large stainless steel pots
- Hot plates
- Fume extractor and hood
- Plastic squeeze bottles
- Measuring spoons
- Beakers
Jewelry Studio
- Oxy/Propane Torch (for soldering)
- Additional Flex Shaft & Attachments – stone setting burs, radial bristle discs, cutting wheels, and various drill bits.
- Hammering Stakes and additional Hammers
- Engraving Tools – Hand-held or electric
- Combination Rolling Mill, or Rolling Mill with various rollers – Our current rolling mill is wonderful, but very basic and limited in uses.
- Ultrasonic Cleaner
- Lapidary Equipment for making stone cabochons
- Magnification and lighting
- Additional Hand Tools – various pliers, saws, files, dividers etc.
- Possibly casting supplies (We are imagining fun future possibilities in the space!)
- A Lightbox for jewelry/product photography (to likely be used in all departments!)
Electronics Lab
- Reflow oven
- Panavises
- 3D scanner
- Arduino / microcontrollers (gently used is fine too!)
- General, new, modern parts that are sorted: Capacitors (electrolytic, mylar, ceramic disc), resistors, switches, diodes, trimpots, transistors, LEDs, small speakers
- Hook up wire (22 gauge)

- Finishing area:
- Tabletop spray booth
- Airbrush
- Miniature clamps
Computer Lab
- Mat Cutter
- Rotary Paper Cutter
- Medium or large format flatbed scanner
- Laptop and/or desktop computers in good condition
