Photoshop For Beginners (Free Virtual Learning)


In this free virtual class, attendees will learn how to edit, retouch, adjust color and combine photographs using Photoshop. Do you have old photographs that you would like to scan and repair or enhance? This is the class for you. You will also learn to colorize black and white or sepia photographs.  This class will run on Tuesday / Thursday, October 27th / 29th from 6 – 7 PM. Interested in learning about the history through the lense of what we make? In this four part free virtual series we will examine Yankee ingenuity through the manufacture of guns, sewing machines, clocks, watches, and automobiles that collectively tell the story of “The American System” of manufacturing. Learn How To Laser Cut A Box (Free Virtual Learning)

In this free virtual learning class, learn how to use a laser cutter to cut a small wooden box. We will look at a variety of resources and watch the Claremont Makerspace laser cutter in action and give a demo of Corel Draw. This will be a great overview for anyone that has not laser cut before or are looking for some possible new tricks.



Getting to Know The CNC Router

10/21/2020, 7 – 8 PM

In this beginner level virtual class, participants will learn the basic operation of the ShopBot CNC Router. Covered topics include the axis’, attaching material, the ShopBot software and basic safety. This class is presented free of charge and will be presented via Zoom. Upon registration, you will be sent a link to the Zoom connection information.



Design Technology For Kids!

Thursdays, 3 – 4:30 PM, Starting November 5th

In this free 3-part series participants will experiment with designing towers, bridges, and launchers using simple materials, most of which can be found in your home. Each session will begin with a warm-up activity, and will revolve around a different principal – balance, strength, and motion – through fun, hands-on design activities. While there’s a progression of challenge across the 3 workshops each session stands alone, so you can register for 1 or all 3. This series is designed for ages 8-12; for maximum fun and success participants are encouraged to come with a friend or family member to brainstorm and collaborate with! Please note materials needed for each session. (For illustration purposes links have been added to some of the materials.) You may sign up for each session individually.

CMS Veterans’ Scholarship Program Now Expanded To Include Spouses

The Claremont Makerspace and The Red River Charitable Foundation are proud to announce the Claremont MakerSpace Veteran & Military Scholarship has now been expanded to include their spouses .

CMS COVID-19 Economic Hardship Scholarship Program

If you are suffering economic hardship as a result of loss of employment, reduction in wages or other economic hardship as a result of COVID-19, you may apply for the CMS COVID-19 Economic Hardship Scholarship Program. This program offers a 75% discount on Claremont MakerSpace membership to approved applicants for a period of up to six months. You may be able to apply for an extension at the end of the scholarship period, contingent upon available program funding.

Volunteer at CMS!

The Claremont Makerspace has a need for volunteer Front Desk Staff and cleaning. Deskers check people in, help maintain CMS, respond to inquiries and help keep our space accessible. Personal Studio Spaces

CMS has personal studio spaces available for rental. While all departments of the CMS offer shared workspace, CMS Personal Studio Spaces provide personal work areas for dedicated users to call their own. Personal studio spaces are made up of 48″ dividers and come in sizes of 60 sq/ft and 100 sq/ft , with each studio including 2 power outlets and an Ethernet jack. Studio Members may fit up their studios however they wish (as long as it’s all code compliant and respectful of others). To learn more about Personal Studio Spaces & availability, click here.
